Another year is coming to its end and the holiday season has me full of joy! I love this time of year: festivities, family, friends, Christmas lights and sparkle all over the town! Also, every year I love to search the internet for fun holiday DIY projects! Is it me or do each year the projects get better and better? I also hope you enjoyed looking at Liz’s project on her blog Broken treasures.
Anyhow, I love checking out the 12 tags that Tim Holtz makes every year. So fun to see the techniques he comes up with! Also, it is a very entertaining idea to me that a guy paper crafts! LOL
So being inspired by the idea of making tags, I made my own version of Christmas tags. This pretty little set was made using several techniques: embossing, stamping, inking, and die-cutting. I also wanted to give my tags a rustic charm, so I embossed each tag with a wood grain, which I then distressed with some brown ink. I really like playing with layers too, so I added some burlap to the embossed tags, then some crochet ribbon and finally a greeting.
I hope you enjoy this project! I have made a color palette for all of you to use and be inspired. I would LOVE for you to share your own versions of holiday projects on our Facebook page for all to see! Also, leave me a comment letting me know if you like seeing a sketch and/or color palette each month.
